OMG Expands Cubix Toolsets

24/03/2017

LONDON, UK: Ortana Media Group (OMG) announces three major additions to its Cubix media asset management, automation and orchestration platform: Biometrics, Cognitive Services and Timelines.
These will be introduced at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 24-27.

Also, making their NAB debut will be two Cubix modules, Cubix Tracker
& Reporting and Cubix Taskflow Designer, introduced at the recent
Broadcast Video Expo in London.

Used by Enterprise level media companies around the globe, OMG's Cubix is a complete content processing system capable of handling all workflows from inception right through to billing. It is available to match the simplest of workflows and can be enriched with extra capability as the client requires.  Implementation can be be organic without 'rolling the dice' on an all-encompassing solution from day one with the associated complexity and cost.

OMG's dedicated team ensures that each customer's requirements are heard. The flexibility of Cubix allows OMG to configure each system the day one requirement without penalty for future growth and expansion.

Cubix can be deployed in an on-site enterprise server, in the cloud or as a hybrid of the two. Cubix now consists of 27 modules which can be combined to match a wide range of deployments and applications. Examples of these deployments are: Active accelerated archiving and disaster recovery; archiving, indexing and searching; business to consumer communication; content preparation and playout; content showcasing and monetisation; corporate to corporate communication; film scanning and processing, ingest from the web and social media, post-production, real-time tracking of content status across multiple systems, robotic bulk tape ingest; transcoding, metadata management and publishing.

New: Cubix Biometrics
Believed to be a world’s first for a MAM, Cubix Biometrics integrates the SmilePass Biometrics platform for face and voice authentication. This combination provides an additional layer of security when internal users or external clients access their content, metadata and workflows through any of the Cubix portals. Using the standard webcam and microphones found devices such as desktop computers, laptops, tablets and mobile phones, the SmilePass Biometric Engine employs complex matching algorithms to recognise faces. It works by measuring key features of a live human face and creating digital templates which are stored for future comparison. The templates carry no personal data and cannot be recalculated back into a picture so it is impossible to compromise an identity. Voice recognition creates and stores an alphanumeric reference template. The template cannot be decrypted back to the voice recording so the user remains secure.

New: Cubix Cognitive Services
The new Cubix Cognitive Services module provides a range of cognitive services including transcription (speech to text), subtitle validation, language detection, image recognition and real-time content moderation.

Compatible with more than 80 languages/dialects, the speech to text module allows content to be transcribed quickly and accurately into metadata which can then be viewed as a subtitle in the Cubix GUI. The metadata can also used via any of the advanced search engines integrated into Cubix. Existing subtitles can also be checked in an automated validation process.

Instead of required operators to identify a language by listening to an audio track, Cubix provides a weighted list of expected languages against which it tests each audio track. The module can then update the metadata within Cubix and tag the file before this passes through the configured workflow.

The image detection module allows 'labels' to be detected within images. Example labels are furniture, people, facial attributes and emotions, animals and buildings. The resultant label metadata is stored within Cubix, just like the transcript, on a timecode basis against the asset. Very quick searching can then be performed through relevant archived content.

With Cubix Cognitive Services, Cubix can also function as a first-pass automated moderator detecting inappropriate content such violence or nudity. This especially useful when dealing with live content or files from public sources such as social media.

New: Cubix Timelines
The new Timelines module enables Cubix users to access and interact quickly with metadata, audio tracks, automated quality-control reports and edit-decision lists. It also allows clients to generate their own metadata tracks for deep logging or to make timeline-based use of the cognitive services.

US market debut: Cubix Tracker & Reporting
Cubix Tracker & Reporting provides visual displays allowing non-technical staff to review any Cubix taskflow and drill down into detailed file-related information as well as corporate information such as service-level agreements. The Tracker & Reporting feature set includes the ability to track physical assets right through to digital delivery and archiving. This embraces film scanning, barcode generation and management, plus easy image capture of a workflow configuration. Also included are multi-language subtitle support, track-stacking/audio-shuffling, improved audio library and proxy waveform support.

US market debut: Cubix Taskflow Designer
Cubix Taskflow Designer enables system administrators to create their own workflows and design task-specific
user interfaces exactly matching their operational requirements.
